Mission:

The Mission of Hope 4 Haven House is to Alleviate hunger in Dekalb County by soliciting, collecting, and packaging food for distribution through a network of agencies and programs, as well as provide opportunities for self-sufficiency. Our services include food box programs,and Pathways for Transitional Living.

Overview:

Hope 4 Haven House Food Pantry is a tax-exempt not-for-profit that is dedicated to providing the community with easy access to the foods and services necessary to prevent hunger. The organization distributes boxes of food and services to our target population groups. donated from another community food bank. Over the last 6 years, the organization has grown and transformed and is expanding operationally. Today, Hope 4 Haven House receives support from charitable organizations. Our Client base is low-income people, mainly families, who need emergency help to put food on the table. 95% of our clients are low income families.

The face of hunger is changing in Georgia

  • 16.2% of Georgians – 1 in 6 Georgians – are food insecure, meaning they don’t always know where they will find their next meal. This is well above the national average of 13%.
  • 23.2% of children in Georgia – 1 in 4 children – live in food insecure households. This is well above the national average of 17.9% This means that more than 700,000 children in Georgia have been hungry without access to the food they need for their physical and mental development.
  • 27% of food insecure households in Georgia have income above 185% of poverty and are likely ineligible for any federal food nutrition programs. These working families are struggling in today’s economy. Despite recovery from recession, unemployment and underemployment continue to drive the demand for food assistance in Georgia.

The Food Pantry is open to the public every Tuesday except for holidays 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
